Welcome to our journey.
On the 1st August 2003, Slade, Krissy, Vicky and their trusty steed Sid the landrover. Will be leaving the South of England to travel overland to the South Coast of Africa.
The idea came about five years ago, when Slade was travelling through Europe, yearning to overland Africa in anything he could get his hands on. The first choice was a motorbike but his friends convinced him that a Landrover would be a better option.
So, he invested into a Series 3, SWB and started to prepare.
However, to Slade's surprise, his first hurdle came about when he met Krissy!
The overland trip was put on hold for a while, whilst Slade and Krissy backpacked across Europe, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Whilst returning to England, our wedding took place and an extremely eager Slade started to plan for the overland trip of a lifetime.
For the last two years, we have dedicated our lives to our trusty steed, our home for the next nine months.
We would like to apologize now to our friends and family for boring them to death for a very long time and yes, we are now finally leaving! Also, a special thank you to my parents for letting us take over the garage and garden for the past two years.
One of our friend's had always been extremely enthusiastic regarding our trip and ached to be able to go herself.
So, after a consideration on where we could put her in the landy, we asked her, if she would like to come along.
Vicky (AKA Tubbs) accepted whole heartedly, so two has now become three. (Obviously Slade is now very happy to be travelling with two women)!
But if she gets out of hand, the idea of being able to sell her for a couple of camels, could be a possibility! (Only joking Tubbs).
Whilst we have been preparing for the trip, we have decided to raise money for a very worth while charity, the Born Free Foundation.
A international wildlife charity working throughout the wild to save lives, stop suffering, conserve species, protect wild animals and keep wildlife in the wild.
