Route

The proposed route ---------------------

The actual route ------------------------

The rough route is as follows: we leave England to cross the English Channel to Calais in France. To stock up with good wine and cheese whilst en-route and spend a few days with friends in the South of France.

Travel down into Gibraltar in Spain. Here we are to appreciate and devour our last English fish and chips for quite a while.

Then we are to catch a ferry to Tangiers in Morocco, commence the long climb over the Atlas Mountains and the exciting start of the Sahara. Through into Western Sahara across the border to Mauritania, into Mali and onto Burkina Faso.

When we reach Ghana, we are fortunate enough to have friends who have settled here. So, it will be great to see a friendly face from home and to relax for a while.

Trying not to get too comfortable, we travel onto Togo, Benin through to Niger and over to Chad. Into the highlands of Cameroon, then head south to the rainforests of Gabon.

Then it is all systems go, heading straight through Congo, Angola and to relax along the skeleton coast of Nambia. Our final destination will be South Africa, where the Venters craving for biltong will finally be satisfied!!!!!
